In this lesson you will pick your favorite cartoon character and create a work of art using the image.  Copying someone else's work is a great way to learn good drawing and painting skills.  This is not something I would advised someone to do for an art contest nor to be published in any way.

Materials: Paint or drawing paper, pencil, ink, acrylic, watercolor, brushes, markers, pens, and the lists goes on and on - you can use anything you like.

Time: 2-4 class periods

Steps

1.  Choose your cartoon character, save the picture.

2.  Draw the outlines with a pencil.

3.  Paint (use shading or no shading, up to you).  Hint: it is best to start with your lightest colors and work your way dark, black should be your last color to paint to clean up the outlines.

4.  Do not forget the background.

5.  Upload to artsonia under "Cartoon Character".
