Cardboard Buildings

The best way to break down a cardboard box:
Materials
Cardboard
Box Cutter
Pencil
Ruler
Triangle or protractor
Scissors
Hot Glue
Paint
Cutting Mat
Step one:
Research buildings and find inspiration! You should save an image of the structure that has inspired you for reference.

Step two: Cut a base to build your structure on. If you are present in my classroom I precut 10 inch by 10 inch pieces of cardboard for students to use. If there is a bend in the cardboard it is fine.
Step 3: Use a ruler, triangle or protractor to draw the outline of your structure.
Step 4: Cut the walls. They should all be the same height and you need to measure against your drawn walls on your base and cut them to be the right length. Glue them as you cut them.
Step 5: Measure the windows and doors. You may cut some out, you may not want to cut some out. Measuring is important.
Step 8: attach the plastic to the windows (if this is something you are going to do). You can color your windows to look like stained glass. It is best to use a marker.
Step 9: Making the triangle roof for a pointed roof. Front and backs should be the same.
Step 10 (optional) installing lights. This can be cut into the top like the video or glued in the bottom.
Step 11: Attaching the roof.
Step 12: Crow's nest. Or four sided roof with a point.
Step 13: Once you finish building the entire structure, now comes the "icing on the cake" or the good stuff. Siding, shingles, trim. Makes your building beautiful and interesting. This step should actually take the bulk of your time. You can have a very rustic or a very clean look. This is where your personality comes in.
